How Much Ashes Are Needed for Memorial Jewellery?

Memorial jewellery is a beautiful way to keep a loved one close, offering comfort and a lasting tribute. A common question families ask is: How much ashes are needed for jewellery?

How Much Ash is Required?

Typically, only a small amount of ashes is required for memorial jewellery. Most pieces, such as pendants, rings, and bracelets, need approximately a teaspoon (about 1-2 grams) of ashes. This ensures that a portion of your loved one remains with you while keeping the majority of the ashes for other memorial purposes if desired.

Different Types of Memorial Jewellery

Depending on the type of jewellery you choose, the amount of ashes needed may vary:

  • Ashes Infused Glass or Resin Jewellery – Requires a tiny amount of ashes mixed into glass or resin.
  • Cremation Pendants & Lockets – Designed with a small chamber to hold a pinch of ashes.
  • Fingerprint Jewellery with Ashes – Some designs can incorporate ashes into the engraving process.

Ordering Process

Choose which colour resin you would like to encase the ashes of your loved one. Once you have ordered your jewellery piece, we will send you a special kit for you to use in order to confirm your order, confirm resin colours and ring size (if applicable), and to send a small amount of ashes back to us.

  • Ring Sizer (if applicable)

What If I Have Limited Ashes?

If you have only a small portion of ashes available, don’t worry—memorial jewellery requires very little. Many jewellers also accept a mix of ashes, hair, or other sentimental elements to create a unique piece.
